About FFRP

The main thrust of the FFRP is to keep as much of the rural preservation planning area as rural as possible and to implement the county's Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2000 and currently under review. It is very important that those of us supporting open space in this county contact our supervisors to indicate that: (1) we support retaining planning areas in the Comprehensive Plan and limiting development in the rural preservation planning area to 10% of the total; (2) we believe the current zoning ordinance allowing development in all planning areas (including rural preservation), at a density of one house for every two acres, is simply transferring dense development to the rural areas; and (3) we favor the designation of a separate Rural Preservation Zone with a lower permitted housing density.

  • Without the active participation of our citizens in this Comprehensive Plan review, it is possible that the current zoning structure will continue to prevail, with serious long-term consequences for the future of this county. Please contact your elected officials. The FFRP is dedicated to preserving the best (and the rest) of Fluvanna County.
